Siepacz ! or Well Done in Polish
Warta-Polpharma is officially third as of the 7.00 pm
GMT placings.
Until now, the Poles had been in fourth place, behind
Team Adventure. Their strong recovery is due in some
measure to the damage sustained by Cam Lewis's boat
but equally to their own performance in recent days.
Perhaps the event should be celebrated by eating
another half a Mars bar!
It's party time again on board. Already at noon,
Dariusz Drapella told how they'd celebrated their
24-hour run of 506 miles by treating themselves to
half a Mars bar. Now they have to celebrate their
third place. It doesn't look as though their store of
chocolat bars is going to last very long . . .
The smallest boat in the race has climbed up one
place. Since joining the Expressway of the South,
Warta-Polpharma is inhaling the miles, making an
average of 21 knots. The performance is all the more
deserved because the Polish team has made the most use
of the past two days of force 5 to 6 northwest winds.
These following winds were accompanied by a more
manageable and orderly sea and a westerly swell of 1
to 2 meters. These are great conditions for sure but
above all, the crew knows how to exploit the immense
potential of this boat with such a fabled past . . .
Right now, Roman Paszke has only a slender lead (30
miles at the ranking) over Lewis and Team Adventure.
More to come.
Meanwhile we can only wish them fair winds!
Gratulacj
